I find this both distasteful, and heartening at the same time. It's distasteful because the economy didn't only screw over black people, and getting upset at Obama for trying to help everybody instead of just black people is, in my opinion, not helping to promote the equality I thought we were all striving for. And what about the Latinos, the Asians, the Polynesians, the Native Americans? I'm pretty sure they got fired, laid off, and misused by banks as much as, if not more than, black people. In fact, it's been hard on us all, no matter what color our skin, no matter if we're male or female. We all got screwed. (Well, ok, except for a slim few who probably don't even make up 1% of the population.) It's heartening because it seems like Obama understands this.
Obama added that he cannot pass laws "that say I'm just helping black folks. I'm the president of the entire United States. What I can do is make sure that I am passing laws that help all people, particularly those who are most vulnerable and most in need. That, in turn, is going to help lift up the African-American community."
Indeed.
Also? HOT BOOTS. But really, $395.00? Srsly? They aren't quite that hot.
