Morphberry update 2
Not nearly as exciting as the first, since we didn't get an ultrasound done today. But baby is doing good.
I haven't lost or gained any weight since my last visit, so the doc asked a whole bunch of questions, making sure that things were ok. We did get to hear Morphberry's heart beating. It sounded like someone had taken one of those big sheets of thin metal and was waving it in the air really fast. Baby's hearts beat at 120 to 150 bpm, and Morphberry's were right in that range. The results from our CF screening came back as a 1:880 chance of having a CF baby, which is pretty awesome, no stress there. I'm a carrier for a mutation different from my brother, though. I'm not sure how that works, and I got the impression the doc didn't care. Husby isn't likely a carrier of any CF so we don't need to be too concerned, since it's a recessive disease. Also, apparently I have the same blood type as Husby, O+ (I thought I was B+, for some reason o.0) so it isn't likely that my body will start seeing Morphberry as an infectious threat at some point, which is good news. I'm also supposed to stop using the medication the doc prescribed for my acne, as all it did was burn my face all day and make me itchy and scaly (three of the "in very rare cases will you ever experience even one of these" side effects listed. I was thrilled. :|) and I have been ordered to see a dermatologist. The one he recommended isn't in our insurance's network, but the guy his receptionist said she liked is. Since doc couldn't even remember the guy's name, though, I'm getting the impression it's not gonna be a big deal.
Still hating food all food, now getting heartburn on top of that. And even though I'm still the same weight, things like twisting, sitting up, sleeping, and wearing pants have gotten incredibly uncomfortable. I had a few random sobbing moments, too, and Husby says I've been easier to upset over stupid things than normal. Doc says that I'm over the hormone hump, as it were, and they'll start to level out now, and that means appetite will come back, sanity will come back, and apparently I won't NEED my afternoon naps anymore. I hope so. I hate being a wreck cuz I missed my naptime. Getting heartburn over mashed potatoes, though... I could probably live without that. The things I do for this kid. Heh.
Oh yeah, fun fact about pregnancy. Your boobs HURT. ALL. THE. TIME. Supposedly it's one of the first signs you might be pregnant, and goes away about by the time you've actually missed your first period. Hooray for being special, since mine just keep getting worse. It makes intimacy... challenging. Ha! Also, you can apparently start leaking at any point in time during your pregnancy (though commonly that doesn't happen until about 6 months). So I guess it's time to replace the period pads in my purse with breast pads, in case of an emergency. Considering how incredibly painful even just wearing a light shirt is for me, I'm kind of dreading the day I have to wear a bra even in my house. In spite of more level hormones, I think there are still quite a few more "Holy cow how am I ever going to survive this?" sob sessions in store.
But! For now Morphberry is as healthy as we can expect, and I'm doing pretty alright myself. So that's all very good news. ^_^
SOME NAMES WE ARE CONSIDERING:
Laurel Ann, Laurelyn, Kaylee, Sadie, Zachary, Elijah, Michael. Our last name is Ligon (lih-GONE). I'm sure we'll be more creative once we figure out if Morphberry is a boy or a girl. *nod nod*

I hope that your skin has healed up some again, poor you to hit the jackpot by being one of the few who suffer side effects.
Hmm, I agree with Laurel Ann as well. It has a lovely ring to it, not to mention it gives your child (if it is a girl) a choice later in life. :)

I hope it does too. I wash it pretty much every day, and while it sometimes seems to be clearing up, I just can't seem to get ahead of it. It's a weird breakout pattern too. Anyway, we'll see what a dermatologist will do to me. I can only imagine that my wonderfully unique and now constantly CHANGING body chemistry will make this a beautifully painful experience. OTL
Hehehe. Now if only we could find something so nice and normal but sort of unique for a boy's name. ^_^ Though in a month we'll see if it matters or not. I'm very excited for this. *nod nod*

Oh no, how annoying. I hope that your dermatologist can help you sort it out quickly.
I always liked Gaelic names for boys. They sound very strong and come with a rich history. :)
Well, that will be a huge revelation, I will be curious to learn the result as well. :)

Ohhh, baby-heartbeats! :D I'm glad that things look good for the Morphberry, even as I'm sorry that it sounds like the pregnancy is being kind of hard on you in certain areas. *__* How long is it supposed to be, now?
For names on their own, I lean toward Laurelyn, but with your last name I agree with the above, Laurel Ann goes better. :Da And haha, all of the boys work.
\o/!! Gooo, Mama-Mags!! <3
...OH, and haha, almost forgot the reason I originally stopped by your journal. XD This seems so unimportant now, haha. But anyway, I double-checked the Somarium rules and it looks like apps aren't actually open THROUGH Sunday, but have to be submitted BY Sunday. I wasn't sure you'd seen this, but if it comes about that you don't app this cycle, I wanted to say No Worries!! You've got a lot going on, and as much as I'm excited to see Robin again, another two week wait is definitely no sweat. :Db

We are currently 18 weeks along now. Not this coming thursday but the next thursday we get to find out the gender. THAT will be fun! ^_^ Since we have a pretty adorable girl name that we both really like, watch Morphberry be a boy, since we aren't 100% sold on any of the boy names. Hah! Cuz that would totally be our kid. Contrary from the get-go. Pffff! ok, not really.
Guh. Well, suck. They even made sure to put "through the 14th" on the app page too. XP Oh well. Gives me another couple of weeks to come up with a good 1p sample. *stalks 'til then*
